A Des Moines individual who was involved in a June incident in Greene County, was recently sentenced after pleading guilty to a lesser charge.
According to court documents, 23-year-old Riley Isaiah Walstrom pled guilty to an amended charge of a simple misdemeanor for fifth degree theft. Walstrom was ordered to serve two days in jail with credit for time already served and pay a $65 minimum fine, plus surcharges and no more than $1,200 for court-appointed attorney fees.
The charge stems from an incident on June 4th. The Greene County Sheriff’s office investigated a burglary in the 1100 block of R Avenue. The homeowner saw Walstrom and another suspect, Ashlee Agan of Jefferson, break into the residence and try to steal several items. The victim requested the items get put back, which the suspects did, and they fled from the home.
Walstrom was originally charged with a felony for third degree burglary and a misdemeanor for trespassing. Court documents show that the felony was changed to the simple misdemeanor for theft and the trespassing charge was dropped. Agan also pled guilty to the same charge and was sentenced to two days in jail, plus paying fines and surcharges this past July.
