The Perry Public Library is offering a new series of programs, which is aimed at patrons who aren’t yet teenagers but are definitely not little kids anymore.
The Be“Tween” the Pages social events will be held the first Wednesday of each month starting in October, and it’s open for kids in 3rd through 5th grade. Children’s Librarian Suzanne Kestel says the tweens are often times the forgotten age group, so she wanted to do something with them specifically in mind. The first event will be held this Wednesday, October 3rd, starting at 3:30 p.m. in the large meeting room.
Kestel says she has some games planned for them that they’ve likely never played before, as well as some crafts, movies, book talks, and more. However, she says she’ll be seeking the input of the participants to tailor it to what they want it to be. “I’ve got a survey for them, so they can kind of tell me what they’d like to do in the future. But I want those children to come to the library, I want them to check out books. I want them to be comfortable at the library and keep getting in the habit of coming, so that as they get older we won’t lose them!”
The program is free to attend, and registration is not necessary. To learn more about this and other upcoming events at the Perry Library, listen to today’s Perry Fareway Let’s Talk Dallas County program on air and at RaccoonValleyRadio.com.
