Perry’s Parks and Recreation Department has been getting some help recently from two different sources, and soon those sources will be enlisting the input of the public.

An Iowa State University College of Design, community and regional planning class was tasked recently with doing a parks and trails master plan for the City. Simultaneously, SVPA Architects has been working on a master plan for the McCreary Community Building, including changes and improvements that would help the facility. Perry City Administrator Sven Peterson says the class and architecture firm have since been collaborating on getting ideas from the public. “Those two entities are actually working together through this process, because parks and rec are so closely related. And we’re going to be putting out a survey probably in early October for the community to take and provide feedback. Not only on the parks but also the rec center, and improvements or things that the community sees could be happening there that aren’t currently happening.”

Peterson adds, the City will be distributing the surveys in a variety of ways, including online and in paper form. To hear more from Peterson, click the link below to listen to the Perry Fareway Let’s Talk Dallas County program with him that followed the most recent Perry City Council meeting.
