The Frio Ice Cream Shop in downtown Perry officially opened for business on August 21st, and they’ll finally be celebrating on Monday.
They will be hosting a grand opening event all day, which will kick off with a ribbon cutting with the Perry Chamber of Commerce. Owner Tom Maxwell is excited for the event, which will include $1 ice cream cones. “So we’re going to have a grand opening all day, we’re going to have specials running all day. If you haven’t been there yet, come by on that day. If you’ve been there, come support us and come see us on October 1st. I think we’re going to do a ribbon cutting ceremony around 11 o’clock that morning, because we open at 11. We’ll run the specials until close at 10 o’clock that day.”
Maxwell adds, he’s been very pleased with the response from the community since Frio opened, and he’s hopeful that will continue even as the weather gets colder. General Manager Aaron Lenz says the plan for now is to maintain the same hours through the winter months, but he’ll adjust them as he tracks the patterns of customers.
