Tomorrow will be a busy day for Dallas County Conservation, as they are hosting two different events and possibly a third.

The day begins at 1:30 p.m. with a program that will give people a behind-the-scenes look at the items contained within Forest Park Museum that aren’t currently on display. Curator Pete Malmberg will give attendees a tour of the area and answer the question: “What’s in the Back Room of the Museum?” Later in the Day, Conservation will be hosting the popular annual Prairie Awakening event. The celebration will be held at the Kuehn Conservation Area from 4-8 p.m. People are invited to take part in a traditional Native American ceremony that will include a hoop dancer, traditional drums, and the planting of four bur oak trees.

Finally, throughout September, Dallas County Conservation is having on-call Monarch tagging events. Anyone wanting to take part in tracking the butterflies on their trip to Mexico is encouraged to sign up, and they’ll be contacted when the Monarchs are in the area. There is no cost to attend any of the events this weekend, and registration is only required for the Monarch tagging.
