The Panora Police Department (PPD) recently upgraded their security camera system. The department has wanted to make the additions for about five years and were able to do so with a grant from the Guthrie County Community Foundation. The cameras cover the majority of Main Street from City Hall to the plaza near Hometown Foods on the east side of the City.
Police Chief Matt Reising says they are already reaping the benefits. “We’ve already used them in solving some cases. Some were small, some were bigger. They do really well. Anybody that would like to see them is more than welcome. If they see a squad car up front or in the back come up here and I’d be glad to show them. They’re very neat and we’re very excited.”
The department is now up to nearly a dozen units and they hope to add even more in the future to create a more comprehensive coverage. To hear more about the upgrades from Reising, listen to tomorrow’s Let’s Talk Guthrie County program.
