Flu vaccinations are now available and Greene County Public Health strongly recommends everyone to get their flu shots now.
Director Becky Wolf says flu vaccines are recommended for anyone six-months of age and older. It protects against the influenza virus, which Wolf points out is more prevalent in the fall and winter months.
“It’s not unusual that we may start seeing some influenza activity as early as October. It will pick up as we get more into the holiday seasons and winter. As we usually see an uptick around Christmas time. And then we see the highest cases of activity in like January and into February. And then it starts to dwindle down after March and into April.”
Greene County Public Health is holding two community flu clinics tomorrow. One will take place from 10am to noon at the Churdan Methodist Church. The other will be at the Paton Public Library from 1 to 3pm. All health insurance is accepted and Wolf reminds everyone to bring their insurance cards with them. She adds that flu shots are also available at any pharmacy, medical clinic or through your physician or medical provider.
