Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds was in Perry Wednesday morning to pay a visit to Osmundson Manufacturing.

Reynolds took a brief tour of the facility, then addressed the workers at the plant. She spoke about how important an industry like Osmundson is to not only the Perry area, but also to Iowa in general. “I love the fact that this is a 115-year-old company, it’s soon to be a fifth-generation family-owned company, that’s building things right here in Perry, Iowa. And I was talking to them as I was walking through the company, I love the supply chain and the connection to other businesses here within Iowa. And (I’m) just really proud of the workforce, and this is the very definition of hard-working Iowans that are making a difference in businesses and communities across our state.”

Following her speech, Reynolds took a few questions from the workers, which included concerns over Medicaid privatization and renewable energy. She then hung around to talk to people individually, and finished with an extended tour of the plant. Reynolds said she’s always excited to visit a business like Osmundson’s, which has a track record of working with the state program Iowa Jobs for American Graduates (IJAG), which goes along with her Future Ready Iowa initiative. She was appreciative of the opportunity to meet the company’s workers and administrators and highlight them as a successful native Iowa business.
