Adel City Council 8-14

The Adel City Council convened Monday evening in regular session.

The meeting began with a public hearing regarding a loan agreement and issuance of $12 million in sewer revenue capital loan notes. No one spoke against it, so following the hearing the Council approved a resolution instituting proceedings to take additional action. The money will go towards improvements to the City’s Waste Water Treatment Plant, and City staff believes the bidding could open next spring.

In new business, the Council approved two interim financing bids, one for water projects and the other for the east annex sewer extension. Both projects are through the United States Department of Agriculture, and were awarded to CoBank at a variable interest rate. Other items approved included: easements and purchase agreements related to the east annex sewer extension project; an agreement between the City and Ahlers and Cooney for bond counsel for 2018 public improvements; and setting a public hearing for October 9th at 6 p.m. to consider bids for the upcoming street resurfacing project.

The meeting concluded with an update from McClure Engineering on upcoming water and sewer projects, as well as design and construction contracts. They said each project is progressing well, and there are currently no issues that need to be addressed.
