Coach Chris Heisterkamp’s Greene County High School volleyball team played in the Roland-Story Tournament on Monday in Story City. The Rams went 1-2 in matches and 2-4 in sets. Greene County won vs. Madrid by scores of 22-20 and 21-18. They lost to BCLUW (Conrad) 17-21, 17-21, and fell to Carlisle by scores of 13-21, 12-21.

“Our Madrid match was a well-fought battle between both teams. It was great to see the girls fight hard for every point and extra sweet to pull out the win,” said the coach. She felt the Rams competed well in the matches they lost.

Sophomore Lily Muir was named to the All-Tournament team, comprised of one player from each of the eight teams involved. Muir had 16 kills and 17 digs on the night. Luis Slompo, the Brazilian foreign exchange student, had 14 kills with nine from Brianna Osterson. Osterson had 15 digs with seven apiece from Paige Heaning and Aubrey Heupel. Sophia Havens was 23 of 24 at the service line with Kara Reed at 19 of 20, and Heupel 16 of 16.

The Rams go to Monroe later today to face PCM in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference play with a 1-3 conference record and 5-15 overall mark.
