Fareway Check to Relay

It’s always a big deal when more than $1,000 is donated to a good cause, and it’s all the more impressive when it’s the entire community that does so. Such is the case with the Perry Fareway’s most recent round-up fundraiser that netted $1,012.72 for Relay for Life of Dallas County.

The fundraiser ran from September 10-15, as Fareway customers were asked to round their totals up to the nearest dollar at the register, with the remainder going towards the annual Relay for Life event. The total raised this year dwarfed last year, when $688.57 was earned during the round-up, and Fareway Store Manager Travis Landgrebe says it was great to see people getting involved in such a big way. Friday morning, Landgrebe presented the check to representatives from Dallas County Relay teams.

The money will be included in the total raised at this year’s Relay event, which benefits the American Cancer Society. The event will be held from 2-9:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 6 at the Perry High School track.
