Perry Bluejays New Logo

Tonight the Perry varsity football team will take on Dallas Center-Grimes, but the game is only part of the evening’s festivities.

Perry will be honoring area veterans and active-duty soldiers with Military Appreciation Night, which includes patriotic “P’s” on the football helmets. Proceeds from a variety of fundraisers before and during the game will benefit the Perry American Legion Post 85, whose building is currently being renovated. Members of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars will present the colors at the game. One area veteran, Tom South, will also serve as an honorary captain for the game, and the Army National Guard will deliver the game ball in a golf cart resembling a tank.

Additionally, the National Guard will toss t-shirts, set up an inflatable tunnel for the players to walk through, and host a variety of games in the plaza. All veterans and active military personnel will be admitted to the game for free. Make sure to listen to tonight’s game live on AM 1310, FM 99.7 KDLS, with pregame starting at 7 p.m.
