birthday-party-celebration

It’s not every day that the entire community is invited to a birthday party, but that’s the case tomorrow as Perry residents are invited to the “Big Ol’ Birthday Bash.”

The event is meant to celebrate several citizens who have recently turned 60 and a few who are about to, as well as serving as a reunion of sorts for the Perry Class of 1977. It’s being hosted in the La Poste parking lot, and several local entities are helping to bring everything together. There will be music provided by two bands, with JD and the Swensongs performing from 4-6 p.m. and Rukkus from 7-11. In between the bands, one of the birthday boys, Pat Graney, will spin some tunes for the audience.

There will be food provided by the Perry Volunteer Fire Department, who are raising funds to replace their Jaws-of-Life. A donation bucket will also be passed around for the cause while Rukkus is on stage. To keep things safe during the event, the City will be closing 3rd Street between Warford Street and the alley behind La Poste, as well as the alley itself. Picnic tables will be provided by the Perry Parks and Recreation Department, though attendees are encouraged to bring their own seating.

There is no cost to attend and people are asked to not bring gifts to the party. Graney adds, the event will be fun for all ages, including kids. In case of rain the party will move inside La Poste.
