A Panorama junior has been selected to a statewide committee. Payton Douglass is one of eleven members currently serving on the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union’s Student Athlete Advisory Committee.

The committee is comprised of female student-athletes representing schools of all sizes across Iowa. Two female athletes from each of the state’s four districts along with three “at-large” representatives were selected to two-year terms and will meet on issues related to girls high school athletic activities in Iowa.

Committee members will assist in the promotion of educational values of interscholastic athletics. They will also discuss and provide feedback on issues dealing with sportsmanship, safety, student leadership, and participation. Additionally, they will serve as student ambassadors at various state tournaments throughout the year.

The committee’s first meeting was on September 12th at the IGHSAU offices in West Des Moines. Douglass participates in volleyball, track, cheer, dance team, and soccer.
