Landus Cooperative held a special open house in Jefferson for its new beef feed mill facility.
Beef Operations Manager Chris Wallace says while they are still in the process of bringing their beef feed mixing operations online, they’ve been distributing feed supplements to their other locations for over a year from the 300-by-90-square-foot facility. He adds that they take in ten truck loads of feed, which each truckload carrying 22-tons.
Wallace points out once they have the full capacity to fix their own beef feed, they will be able to control the entire operation. In their three-ton mixer, they’ll mix liquid molasses, soybean oil and quality liquid feed. Wallace says they used to fix their feed at the Ralston facility, but that was closed in April of 2017 and was moved to the Arcadia location. Wallace notes they will also add on to their mixing operation by providing a pellet mill as well.
Landus Cooperative purchased the former soy flakes manufacturer building in 2012. The company also plans to sell bagged feed in tubs and other nutritional products on site
