Springbrook State Park is coming off a successful summer season of programming capped off by the 2nd Annual Family Fun Day last month. The day’s activities included atl atl demonstrations, kayaking, and a GPS course created by some youth campers. The event was capped off by the dutch oven smoker contest and potluck.
Iowa Department of Natural Resources Training Specialist Anne Riordan says plenty of people enjoyed the events, though she hopes even more will come out in future years.
“We need to get it out there a little more so that more people know what’s going on. That seems to be what we were hearing. We tried a few avenues of advertising. I know that (Raccoon Valley Radio) helped advertise that, but there was still quite a few people maybe coming from further away that hadn’t realized it and they would have like to participate. So we’ll just try to work on that end of it a little more because the interest was definitely there.”
Though the summer activity season is over, there will be several activities this fall for patrons to enjoy at the park. To hear more from Riordan on upcoming activities at Springbrook, listen to today’s Let’s Talk Guthrie County program.
