Late season severe weather may occur later today in the Raccoon River Valley area.
According to the National Weather Service, Greene County is under a slight risk for severe weather, while Dallas and Guthrie counties are in a marginal risk. The threats with all severe weather risks include high and damaging winds, large hail, lightning, heavy rainfall and isolated tornadoes. The peak time frame is estimated to be this afternoon through tonight. Most of our primary coverage area will also see high wind gusts of up to 45-miles-per-hour throughout much of the day.
Anytime there’s severe weather in Greene, Dallas and Guthrie counties, Raccoon Valley Radio’s Severe Weather Action Team provides live coverage of each incident. We are in constant contact with Weather Eye meteorologists, along with emergency management coordinators, local law enforcement and road crews, until the storms are out of our primary coverage area or drop below severe levels.
