An Adel man was arrested Sunday after a domestic dispute turned violent and police officers had to intervene.

The Adel Police Department reports, at around 9 p.m. Sunday, they were called to the 700 block of Greene Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered that 63-year-old David Alan Keifer had allegedly strangled another individual at the residence. When law enforcement had Keifer in custody, he reportedly seized one of their weapons but was quickly disarmed. He was transported to the Dallas County Jail on three charges, including: domestic abuse assault – impeding blood/air flow – causing bodily injury, a class D felony; disarming a peace officer, a class D felony; and interference with official acts, a simple misdemeanor.

Keifer had his initial appearance in court on Monday and will have a preliminary hearing on Thursday, September 27th. He is currently being held at the Dallas County Jail on $10,000 bond. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
