The case against 28-year-old Eric Chandler Parmenter was expected to be tried in front of a jury this week, but the Dallas County Attorney’s Office reached a settlement out of court Monday so a trial will not be necessary.
According to the Dallas County Clerk of Court, Parmenter, who lives in Ankeny but was formerly from Perry, had two of his four charges of 3rd degree sexual abuse dropped in the settlement. He was arrested in March by the Perry Police Department on charges related to four separate incidents occurring between 2008 and 2010, which involved non-consensual sex acts with a female under the age of 18. Though two of the counts were dropped, Parmenter is still charged with two class C felonies for sexual abuse, which each carry prison terms of up to 10 years, and fines up to $10,000.
Sentencing will take place soon, but the Clerk was unsure exactly when that will be. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
