The Waukee Area Historical Society is hosting an upcoming event through Dallas and Guthrie counties, as they take a bus trip along White Pole Road.

There’s still a few seats left on the chartered bus, which will take attendees on a ride through an assortment of historic locales. Participants will load up at the Vince Meyer Learning Center in Waukee at 9:45 a.m. this Saturday. The first stop on the tour will be the site of a famous Jesse James Train Robbery near Adair. Their route along White Pole Road will then take them by the Old Man Waving Road Sign in Menlo. After that, stops include: the Stuart Train Depot; the site of the Bonnie and Clyde Bank Robbery; Linden Street Sweets; All Saints Community Center; the Dexter Museum; and Drew’s Chocolates.

Along the way, Historian Rod Stanley will be narrating the stops and pointing out historical markers along the roadside. On the last leg, the bus will travel along Old Highway 6 through Redfield and back to Waukee. The trip is expected to last until around 4:30 p.m. Lunch will be provided at the Chuckwagon Restaurant in Adair and is included in the registration fee. The cost to participate is $40 per person, and all proceeds will go towards the Waukee Area Historical Society as they attempt to build a new museum.
