The Greene County Board of Supervisors met Tuesday.
The Board approved a 28E agreement to accept Buchanan County to the Central Iowa Juvenile Detention Center organization. The Board also heard a few updates from County Engineer Wade Weiss. He said Secondary Roads Department is starting the process of purchasing 800 tons of salt for this year’s winter snow removal. It is purchased from a company in Ames at $67 per ton. He also updated the Board about two asphalt overlay projects that the Iowa Department of Transportation did on Elizabeth Street and 222nd Street in Grand Junction.
During open forum, Billie Jo Hoskins with the Greene County 4-H Foundation asked the Board if they could hang 12 banners around the courthouse side poles during National 4-H Week in October and during the Greene County Fair in July to promote 4-H. She said the Foundation would pay for the banners, but they would need help to install them. The Board gave permission to display the banners during the designated time periods.
Finally, County Environmental Administrator Chuck Wenthold updated the Board on the MidAmerican Energy Beaver Creek Wind Turbine Phase II Project. He said the final turbine will be completed this week. All cables have been installed. Crews will be headed to their next project south of Greene County by next week.
