The Dallas County Board of Supervisors convened Tuesday morning in regular session.
The first discussion item on the agenda was a potential contract with UnityPoint Health for clinical engineering for Dallas County Emergency Medical Services. EMS Director Mike Thomason said he was considering an agreement with UnityPoint for equipment checks that could be executed through a contract, as an on-call service, or the County could solicit bids for the work. The Supervisors felt going to bid would be the best option, so Thomason will present a request for proposals at a future meeting.
Much of the meeting was then devoted to the new County Law Enforcement Center. The Samuels Group presented the seventh pay application, which included payments to eight contractors. One of them, the testing agent Team Services, was not included on the agenda, so the Board elected to delay approval of that particular pay request until next week. The rest of the request for $1,230,208.98 was approved. The Board was also given an update on the progress of the center, which is scheduled to have a roof by November and be completely enclosed by February.
Finally, the Supervisors continued to discuss the County Courthouse renovation, and department reshuffling. Jerry Purdy with Design Alliance presented concepts for the Treasurer’s Tax Department and the Recorder’s Office, which will be relocated to the west wing of the first floor. Purdy said he will be talking with Treasurer Mitch Hambleton, Recorder Chad Airhart, and the 5th Judicial District Court Administrator Christopher Patterson this week about the current floor plans.
