Though we’re far from the spring and summer flower backdrop, Guthrie County Iowa State University Extension and Outreach has some tips when planting lilies.

The Extension Office recommends planting Asiatic, Oriental, and other varieties of the flower during the early fall. The weather during this time of the year is an ideal environment for growing. Bulbs should be planted at a depth equal to three times their diameter. Container grown lilies can also be planted in the spring and summer time.
