Many people may have already met the newest member of the Dallas County Conservation staff, but for those who haven’t, allow us to introduce you to Outreach Coordinator Ken Keffer.

Keffer grew up in Wyoming, but has lived all around the United States, most recently in Wisconsin, before coming to Iowa a year ago. He originally specialized in biology, but eventually transitioned to communications and outreach, which helped him land jobs such as environmental educator and naturalist. As Outreach Coordinator for Dallas County Conservation, his focus will be on media relations, social media, event planning, and their online presence.

Keffer says he’s already impressed by the people and locations in Dallas County. “This is such a neat part of the world, there’s so much cool things happening. The staff’s great, I’m really kind of on board quick and they helped me hit the ground running. I like the Dallas County area, because it’s kind of the interface between the urban and the rural, you know? Dallas County’s got everything! They’ve got some water trails, they’ve got the bike trail, they’ve got some conservation habitat areas, (and) some hunting areas. So it’s really a little bit of everything to offer, and I’m excited just to explore myself!”

Keffer adds, he’s enjoyed getting to know everyone he’s met so far, and he’s excited to meet more new people in the near future. To learn more about him, click the link below to listen to the Perry Fareway Let’s Talk Dallas County program with Keffer.
