Power Lift in Jefferson continues to clean up following an accidental fire early Tuesday morning.

Jefferson Fire Chief Jack Williams conducted the investigation of what caused the fire that resulted in preliminary estimates of $500,000 to $1 million in damages. He says the fire originated in an oven in the factory portion of the facility. General Manager Chris Conner believes it was an equipment malfunction with the oven and the incident affected several areas of their facility.

“Pretty much the entire factory area has been damaged in some way, shape, or form. Whether it be the assembly department where the actual fire took place or clear on the east side where our fabrication department is, it’s got a ton of smoke damage throughout the factory. All parts of the factory are affected by smoke and water damage. The offices themselves even have smoke damage as well. So pretty much the whole factory and office area.”

Conner notes that every department is shut-down while the clean up effort continues, but the front office area has been shifted around and is functioning, along with research and development doing some welding. He is grateful there were no injuries.

“Just thankful that no one was in the building and nobody got hurt. Just to let everybody know that we will be back up and running hopefully sooner rather than later.”
