Adel City Council 8-14

The Adel City Council convened this past Monday for an additional regular session for the month.

The primary purpose for the meeting was to hold the third reading of a rezone request for the Southbridge Planned Urban Development (PUD). There were no objections, so the Council approved rezoning the area from agricultural to PUD. Following that, they approved the preliminary plat for the area, which was discussed at prior meetings but had to be delayed until the rezone was complete. Next, the Council listened to a presentation from Ahlers & Cooney on urban renewal and Tax Increment Financing (TIF), though no action was taken.

The Council then set a public hearing for September 11th at 6 p.m. to discuss the authorization of a loan agreement and issuance of $7.5 million in sewer revenue capital loan notes. They also approved an agreement between the City and Ahlers & Cooney for bond counsel. Additionally, they approved easements to allow construction of the east annexation sewer improvement project. The last two items approved related to phase one, section three of the storm water utility project. The first was a change order reducing the total cost from $138,000 to $114,000. The second was a pay request for $26,229.50 from Thorpe Water Development.
