The West Central Valley School Board met briefly in a special session Wednesday.
The Board approved the completion of the press box at the middle school in Redfield. The cost is $25,916, which was the original quote submitted by Jeff Marks Custom Building. The bleachers and cement foundation have already been completed and the box should be in place by the first middle school home game on September 20th.
The Board also appointed Ashley Stodden as the next representative from District Six. Stodden takes the place of outgoing member Jenyse Belden, who served the district for the past eleven years. In her application for appointment, Stodden is hoping to “represent my neighbors’ and community’s voices as much as possible and to assist in keeping our school district moving forward in any way that I can.”
Stodden has previously served as the Education Chair for the Central Iowa Apartment Alliance. A 2005 WCV graduate, Stodden currently has two children enrolled at Stuart Elementary. She’s also hoping to increase school pride and unity amongst the four communities in the district.
Current Stuart City Council Member Mick Askren was also considered for the position.
