Time is running out to pre-register for the second annual Genesis Development 5K Fun Run/Walk Fundraiser.
It will be held on Saturday, September 22nd at 9am. The race will start and end at the Webb House in Jefferson. Operations Manager Kathy Pittman says this year’s theme is “Overcoming Obstacles,” where people face obstacles in their daily lives and obstacles for the clients that Genesis serves.
“So one is going to be ‘Unlocking Your Dreams.’ It’s harder for them (the Genesis clients) so just helping them to see that there is a dream out there. Another one is ‘Life is a Roll of the Dice.’ Another one that we’ve come up with is ‘Aim High’ (and) ‘Keep Balance in Your Life.’ We’re really excited to be doing this.”
Pre-registration deadline is September 4th. Adults cost $30 to participate, students in kindergarten through 12th grade are $10 and teams of four or more can get $20 off. Those who pre-register are guaranteed a t-shirt and a swag bag with goodies. Kids who are five and under can run for free. There is also a 50/50 cash raffle for $1 per ticket or $10 for 15 tickets. Genesis Development is also looking for businesses and organizations to be sponsors. Those sponsorship levels range from $100 to $200 levels. All proceeds go back to Genesis Development.
