Within the next year, Raccoon Valley Bank will have a new branch located in Grimes, but before that happens they hosted a groundbreaking ceremony Wednesday afternoon.
The ceremony was held at the site, which is located along Highway 141 just north of Highway 44. Grimes Chamber of Commerce President Brian Buethe got the event going as he welcomed the attendees and thanked them for coming. He then introduced Raccoon Valley Bank CEO Terry Nielsen, who said the new branch is the fifth for the bank, joining the Perry, Adel, Dallas Center, and Minburn locations. Planning for the Grimes branch has been in the works for over a year, and Nielsen said it will be exciting to see walls coming up at the site.
Buethe then gathered all the bank employees and board members for the first of two ceremonial groundbreakings. After that, he invited other Chamber members, City staff and Council members, and even Mayor Scott Mikkelsen for a second groundbreaking photo opportunity. After that, Nielsen introduced the construction managers and architects responsible for the the building. The Chamber then presented Nielsen with a plaque to commemorate the groundbreaking event, and Mikkelsen welcomed the bank to the City.
According to Nielsen, the building should be complete by May of 2019, pending any weather delays.
