Speed Train 1

Monday evening, the 100+ People for Perry organization once again donated a large sum of money to a local project, this time choosing Art on the Prairie.

Members of the group met in the Cellar at La Poste, and three of them got up to present projects that were drawn at random. Each presenter had five minutes to state their reasoning for wanting the funds, and were also allotted five minutes to answer any questions. In the end, it was Art on the Prairie’s Streetscape project that was chosen in a close vote. $7,200 will now go toward paying for the fourth and final sculpture, titled “Furrowed Fields,” which will be placed at the corner of Willis Avenue and 2nd Street during the annual festival on November 10th.

This is the 11th donation meeting for the 100+ People for Perry, and to date they’ve given $73,200 to local projects that benefit the community. Art on the Prairie is now the third charitable organization to receive funds this year from the group, joining the Alano Club and Nudgers. There will be one final donation meeting in 2018, which will be on Monday, November 26th. The goal of the organization is to invest in Perry’s future through supporting current projects, which will advance the quality of life in the City. Each member donates $100, and the money stays entirely in Perry.
