All three fall varsity sports programs at Panorama Community Schools got off to a positive start to the 2018-19 school year last week. Panorama volleyball began the week with a three-set sweep of West Central Activities Conference newcomer Interstate 35 (25-11, 25-13, 25-19) for their first season-opening victory in over 12 years. The Panther volleyball team followed up Tuesday’s win with a four-set triumph of the Earlham Cardinals on the road Thursday, (27-25, 12-25, 25-20, 25-18). Also on Thursday, the Panorama girls cross country team won the Class B race of the Gilbert Cross Country Invitational with a score of 46 points. Sophomores Ella Waddle (second; 21:02) and Oliva Steffen (fourth; 22:27) both placed in the top five of the individual girls’ race standings and all seven scoring runners placed in the top 28 of the race. The Panorama Panthers football team capped off a successful athletic week with a 41-14 victory Friday night over the Fort Dodge St Edmond Gaels. Junior Quarterback Luke South accounted for 356 yards of total offense and four touchdowns (two passes, two runs) in the victory. Another week of Panorama Panther varsity athletics begins tomorrow evening as the volleyball team hosts the Ogden Bulldogs in a West Central Activities Conference match. The varsity match serves at 7 p.m. from Panora.
