Fresh off a 14-6 “Battle for the Cowbell” victory in Perry on Friday night to open the high school football season, it’s time for Greene County to open the home portion of the season. Fans of the Rams get to see the team at home for the first time this season when Nevada visits Linduska Field on Friday night. Greene County plays just four games at home this season and three of the first four games this season are on the road, so after this Friday, the Rams won’t play in Jefferson until week five.

Nevada lost at home in their season opener last Friday. North Polk (Alleman) scored the last 19 points of the game in the final six minutes of the contest to win 49-35. The Cubs moved the ball well, especially threw the air as first time varsity starting quarterback Kody Kruschwitz threw for 224 yards and five touchdowns. Jacob Strottman ran the ball for 104 yards.

The Rams had success through the air in their opener as well with Brent Riley throwing for 248 yards and two TDs. He connected with Lance Hughes for a 24 yard touchdown and with Carter Morton for a 77 yard scoring play.

Greene County’s defense limited Perry to 91 total yards while Nevada gave up 384 yards to NP.

Game time Friday is 7:30 p.m. with coverage at 6:30 p.m. on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
