A Missouri man faces a felony charge after allegedly stealing a vehicle last week in Greene County.

According to court documents, a Greene County Deputy responded to a call of a stolen 2015 GMC truck from outside of 209 Main restaurant in Paton just after midnight on Thursday. The deputy had dispatch contact On-Star who initially reported the stolen vehicle. On-Star said they tracked the vehicle just east of Angus Avenue in Boone County heading towards Perry.

The deputy then had dispatch contact the Perry Police Department, as well as Dallas and Boone County Sheriff’s offices. The vehicle was then stopped along Highway 144. Court documents show that the suspect, 26-year-old Estavan Jones of Missouri admitted to taking the vehicle and was planning to drive it to Des Moines and parking it.

Jones was arrested and charged with a felony for first degree theft. He was booked and remains in the Greene County Jail under a $2,000 surety bond. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
