For the first time in 686 days, the Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers varsity football team celebrated a victory on the gridiron. The Tigers opened Garrison Carter’s tenure as head football coach on the road Friday night against the Bondurant-Farrar Bluejays. A 17 point second quarter surge was enough for ADM to end a nearly two-year losing streak with a 17-7 triumph over the Bluejays. Sophomore quarterback Tate Stine Smith threw two touchdown passes, an 11-yard score to junior Tom Bourn and a 27-yard reception to senior Lucas Heitz, in his first varsity start under center. Junior placekicker Bryce Holm booted a 31-yard field goal through the uprights as well. The win is the first true victory for ADM’s varsity football team since October 7, 2016 against the Atlantic Trojans; ADM bested Atlantic that night, 33-7. The Raccoon Valley Radio Network will have more information on ADM’s first win in nearly two years on Monday’s Raccoon Valley Radio local sports page.
