
With lots of rainfall coming through the Raccoon River Valley area this week, some of our counties are no longer in drought conditions.
According to the latest US Drought Monitor, all of Dallas County and the southeastern tip of Guthrie County is abnormally dry, and Greene County is no longer in any kind of drought. That is a change from last week, when all of Guthrie and Dallas, with the southernmost border of Greene County was abnormally dry. According to the National Weather Service, as of Thursday morning Perry has seen 2.45-inches of rainfall, and Guthrie Center recorded four-inches of rainfall, which includes 2.55-inches on Monday alone. There was no information available for Jefferson.
For the month of August, the National Weather Service reports that Perry has had 3.22-inches of precipitation, while Guthrie Center has had 5.47-inches of rainfall for the month. No information was available for Jefferson. Our next chance of rainfall is expected towards the end of the weekend.
