The Perry Jayettes served at a 78% clip Thursday night falling to both Greene County and Ft Dodge St Edmonds in season opening action. Greene County used a quick start to jump out to 13-25, 21-25 victories in the first match while the Gaels beat Perry 17-25, 23-25 in match two. Head Coach John Fulton talked about his young team’s opening night performance.
“We started slow in both first sets but the 2nd sets of each game were highly competitive and showed a little bit more what we are capable of. Both games got to 21-21 and then we kind of lost it there in the end on some of our own mistakes. Those are things we can clean up with some more experience and we did a great job playing in some competitive games.”
“We have to clean up our service errors. Those are just free points we are giving the other team and 78% won’t cut it for us, so that is going to be a focus as we get better in practice.”
Perry will have a full day of volleyball Saturday when they travel to Bondurant for the Skip Anderson classic.
