We are almost through the construction season and one major project is left to do in Jefferson and it will start next week.
Iowa Department of Transportation Construction Engineer Jenny Hoskins tells Raccoon Valley Radio the Highway 4 resurfacing project from Lincoln Way to Highway 30 is slated to begin Monday, pending any weather delays. Jefferson City Administrator Mike Palmer talks about some of the initial work that people may have already noticed.
“There’s some markings out on the road already of where some patch work is going to be done. There’s quite a few sidewalks that are going to be repaired (with) all of the approaches onto the highway. Those are underway now or the preliminaries are underway.”
Hoskins notes the contractor, InRoads, will do some patch work on the roadway before applying the four-inch asphalt overlay, while skipping the bridge. While work is being done, traffic will be limited to two-lanes, but will be kept open the entire time. The project is in conjunction with another project on Highway 144 from Grand Junction to Perry. The total cost of all of the projects is $5.9 million.
