One of the concepts Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers first-year head football coach Garrison Carter implemented this summer was teaming up with Simpson College Football to host the inaugural Central Iowa Football Camp. The first area head coach to commit his team to the camp was Zach Pfantz of Bondurant-Farrar. Two weeks after the agreement, ADM and Bondurant-Farrar found themselves as week one opponents on the gridiron. Carter told Raccoon Valley Radio earlier this week that the news didn’t deter the Tigers from welcoming the Bluejays to Adel for last month’s camp. “I’ve known Coach (Zach) Pfantz since he was the (head football) coach at Ottumwa (High School) and I was at Washington,” Carter said, “So we go back a ways and have pretty good respect for each other. We both talked about it at the time (the schedules were released) that they were still going to come and we just made sure we respected each other and still got our work in. At the end of the day, it worked out well for both teams.”

Carter adds they had Bondurant-Farrar use the practice field for their work and ADM trained up on the game field to ensure the respect for both squads. A new season of ADM Tiger varsity football begins tonight on the road against the Bondurant-Farrar Bluejays. Listen to tonight’s game on True Country K 107.9, raccoonvalleyradio.com, and the KKRF mobile app starting with the Veteran Power Sports & Equipment Pregame Show at 7 p.m.
