The Perry Bluejays don’t have a lot of experience in the skill positions on offense this season. However, they do have some veterans on the offensive line. Perry will be looking to their big guys up front to carry the load when the Bluejays kick off the season tomorrow night against Greene County.
“All three of our interior lineman started nine games last year for us. Our two tackles were spot starters for us last season because of various injuries. I thought these guys played well toward the end of the scrimmage with South Hamilton and we’ll be counting on these guys to set the tone early this season,” stated head coach Matt Hardy.
Cole Synder, Alex Morales and Michael Echeverria will get the start on the inside for the second straight season while Kade Killmer and Carlos Calderon will patrol the tackle positions. Hardy stated that Perry plans to use this rotation more regularly and rotate big bodies on the defensive side of the football.
“Its a great luxury to have some experience up front. This is a position that Perry football has not been in for a while and we hope the experience the will pay off.”
Perry and Greene County kick off at 7:30 tomorrow night. Shawn Kenney and Doug Stetzel will have the play by play on KDLS.
