acgcThe Guthrie Center School Board met in regular session Monday.

The Board continued discussions on the search for the District’s next superintendent. Along with the Adair-Casey School District, the Board sent out proposal requests to four search firms, which are due by Friday, September 7th. According to the proposed timeline, interviews with the selected firms will take place during a joint meeting the following Wednesday. They hope to have a firm selected during their next regular meeting on September 17th.

During administrative reports, Elementary Principal Diane Flanery told the Board there was an influx of preschool students for the upcoming year, which made it difficult to find available classroom space. The Board agreed to move the three-year-olds to the Kid Zone Early Learning Center.

Superintendent Steve Smith, who is entering his final year as superintendent, discussed the need for a facility plan for future building and property needs. No formal action was taken following the discussion. The Board also approved whole grade sharing expenditures, a 28E agreement with Adair-Casey for teacher sharing as presented, and handbook changes.
