Despite Iowa’s unemployment rate dropping to historic lows last month, some of the Raccoon River Valley area saw slight increases.
According to Iowa Workforce Development, Greene and Guthrie counties each had 0.1-percent increase in July from June of 3-percent and 2.3-percent, respectively. As for Dallas County, they saw 0.1-percent drop in unemployment last month to 1.7-percent. Iowa’s unemployment rate is 2.6-percent in July. Iowa Workforce Development reports that figure is at an 18-year low, with the number of unemployed Iowans now at 44,000, which is down 900 from June’s figure of 44,900.
The US unemployment rate for July was 3.9-percent, which was a 0.1-percent decrease from June.
