Several road projects have been completed in Jefferson with the majority of the construction season now over.
Street Superintendent David Teeples tells Raccoon Valley Radio that Denco Construction crack sealed the east side of Clark, Reed and Adams streets. Black Top Services was hired to chip seal the roads north of West Central Street and all of the alleyways in the southeast section of town. Black Top Services also chip sealed Head and Mahlon streets as well. Crack and chip sealing roads helps to prolong the lifespan of the road without having to completely replace the entire road.
Teeples points out one set of projects that is left for the street department to handle is repairing several manholes throughout town. He says crews have been occasionally repairing the worst ones that cause issues for their snowplows in the wintertime, with another dozen left to repair before the end of the construction season.
