A local organization will be celebrating 100 years of existence with a celebration next month. The Guthrie County Iowa State University Extension and Outreach office will be celebrating the milestone with a Centennial Celebration on Sunday, September 2nd from 5-7pm under the Hoop Building at the Guthrie County Fairgrounds in Guthrie Center.
Office Coordinator Krista Downing talks about the special guests who will be in attendance. “We’ll have a presentation at 6pm with John Lawrence, Vice President of Extension, there to speak with everyone and present a plaque. Craig Hill, President of Farm Bureau will be there as well.”
Downing, one of the newest members of the Extension office is pleased to be a part of the celebration. “It’s pretty exciting. Pretty rewarding to see how far Extension (in Guthrie County) has come throughout the years. So it’s pretty awesome.”
There will be a BBQ supper for a free-will donation during the event as well as cupcakes for dessert. The event is open to everyone but pre-registration is required. To register, contact the Extension office by Tuesday, August 28th.
