The Greene County Democratic Party held a special nominating convention Tuesday night.

They were looking for candidates to run for Greene County Supervisor Districts 2 and 3 seats in the November general election. The quorum of delegates voted unanimously to nominate Patti Naylor as the District 2 candidate and Melissa Frederick as the District 3 candidate. Naylor is a family farm advocate and believes there is a disconnect in family farms and the farming community overall.

“I’m interested in running for Greene County Supervisor because I’m so concerned about our family farms. As a supervisor, I would stand for equity, and fairness, and inclusiveness for all of our residents and especially those in our rural areas.”

As for Frederick, she talks about why she is running to be a County Supervisor.

“I think what my main motivation was right now is I made the choice to come back and stay in Greene County, and I married into a farming family so I am committed to being here for the rest of my life. Because of that it seems silly not to take a good interest in what’s going on in Greene County and to try and do my part to improve it and kind of represent the rest of the people in Greene County.”

Naylor will challenge Republican incumbent Dawn Rudolph for the District 2 seat and Frederick is challenging Republican incumbent Tom Contner for the District 3 seat in November.
