In an effort to jumpstart the 2018-19 school year, the Greene County Activities Booster Club is once again sponsoring a Fall Pep Rally on the Square event Tuesday.
The Pep Rally Kick-Off activities will be during the Greene County Farmers Market from 6 to 6:30pm. Festivities include: a football throw; learn Ram cheerleader routines with jumps and cheers; volleyball pass and set demonstrations; cross-country races; and the swim team, high school band, and color guard will be doing temporary tattoos. The pep rally will then take place on the south side of the Greene County Courthouse at 6:30pm with Raccoon Valley Radio’s own Doug Reider as the emcee. Speakers will include head football coach and Activities Director Mitch Moore, cross-country head coach Jeff Lamoureux, volleyball head coach Chris Heisterkamp and cheer coach Shannon Black.
Moore says the event unifies the students and the public prior to the start of the school year.
“I think it’s great for both. I think for our kids to just see what kind of support there is out there is really neat. And then of course for the public to come see the kids maybe not perform in their sport, but just seeing them giving back to the community a little bit with helping the youth out with their games and getting the opportunity for some of our kids to stand up and have to speak in front of the teams and the public is nice to see. And likewise for our coaches, it’s good to see the support out there before each season so you get some excitement going into your season.”
In case of rain, the event will be held in the middle school gym. It is free and open to the public.
