The Dallas County Democratic Party will be hosting a special nominating convention this Monday in Waukee, to present their candidate in the race for County Board of Supervisors, District 3.
The party didn’t have anyone on the primary election ballot for the seat, which is currently held by Republican incumbent Kim Chapman of Adel. However, people are still able to register for the November general election, even if they weren’t in the June primaries. With that in mind, the Dallas County Democrats are prepared to nominate Pat Stalter of Adel to run in what’s become a crowded field in the third district. Stalter will be up against not only Chapman, but also independents Robert Greenway and Michael “Wombat” Walrod, both of DeSoto.
Stalter is a retired teacher from the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn School District, who is the current Pastor at Woodward Christian Church. In order to get her on the ballot, delegates elected to the Dallas County Democratic Convention are asked to attend the special convention at 6:30 p.m. Monday, at the party’s office at 540 Walnut Street in Waukee. Doors will open at 6. Dallas County is represented by three Supervisors, and each of the current representatives is a Republican. Both Chapman and District 1 Supervisor Brad Golightly of Perry are up for election this year, with Golightly running against Democrat Breanna Morman of Dawson.
