The next meeting of the 100+ People for Perry is coming the last week of August, and the organization encourages citizens to get involved.

The group convenes on the fourth Monday of February, May, August, and November, and at each meeting they donate a large sum of money to one local project. Mark Powell, one of the three organizers of 100+ People for Perry, explains how the meetings go. “We have three five-minute presentations from members on a charitable project that they’re proposing to our membership. We have five minutes of questions for each proposal, we vote on it, and everybody writes a check for $100 to go to that, and it’s just a one-time gift to them. The meetings are quick, they’re fun, they’re engaging, and you make a tremendous impact on the community.”

To date, the organization has given $66,000 to ten local projects, most recently donating $7,000 to the Nudgers group to help them pay for electrical work in the building they own downtown. The group’s mission is to invest in Perry’s future through supporting current projects, which will advance the quality of life in the City. Each donation stays entirely in the community. The next meeting will be on Monday, August 27 at La Poste, with a social time starting at 6:30 p.m. and the meeting beginning at 7.
