GCDC Mtg 8_14The Greene County Development Corporation met Tuesday in regular session.

The meeting started with reports from several entities. Jefferson City Administrator Mike Palmer said the 23 signs for the Wayfinding project should arrive by no later than August 23rd. Jefferson Matters: Main Street Program Director Peg Raney announced that they will be receiving a special Preservation Iowa Award at the end of the month for work done to save the building where Sensibly Chic is located.

Wild Rose Jefferson Manager Travis Dvorak said they are drafting rules and regulations in anticipation of the Iowa Legislature to pass a state law legalizing sports betting during next year’s legislative session. He also announced that the Maddie Poppe show on September 28th has sold out.

McClure Principal Community Planner Zach Mannheimer gave a presentation on the Vision 2020 program. He talked about every project that the steering committee, RDG Planning and Design and Iowa Area Development Group worked on for over 1 ½ years for the county. At the end of the presentation, GCDC Executive Director Ken Paxton said the four projects he would like to immediately start to work on include: the 3 Block Renovation Project in Jefferson, the Grand Junction Artisan Colony, Housing and the Business Class Restaurant in Jefferson.
