A taste of Friday night high school football can be found in Stuart this evening. The West Central Valley Wildcats Football team will host the Clarke (Osceola) Indians in the only scrimmage before next week’s season opener. Wildcat varsity head football coach Eric Addy joined the Guthrie County PM Sports Page on Monday evening as Raccoon Valley Radio continued its preseason coverage of Iowa’s fall sports season. Addy said during the show that today’s scrimmage was initially supposed to be played in Osceola. “We were originally going to have a scrimmage (today) at 7 p.m. down at Clarke,” Addy said, “(However), Clarke’s football field is getting new turf on it. So, we’re flip-flopping this year and next year. (So) the scrimmage will be at home (today) at 7 p.m. and next year it’ll be down at Clarke. ”
The admission into tonight’s scrimmage between West Central Valley and Clarke is a sports drink. The Wildcats are looking to build on a 3-6 campaign last fall, the best finish in Addy’s three previous seasons at West Central Valley. The scrimmage begins at 7 p.m. tonight at West Central Valley High School in Stuart. The Wildcats kick the season off officially next Friday in Urbandale against the Des Moines Christian Lions.
