With the hiring of Jesse Hunt as their boys track and field coach, the Adel-Desoto-Minburn Community School District is turning their attention to their vacant girls’ basketball position. Former head coach Rick Dillinger resigned from his post at ADM at the beginning of August, and Sunday is exactly three months before the Tigers girls basketball team begins their 2018-19 season in Adel against the Norwalk Warriors. The Raccoon Valley Radio Network spoke with ADM Activites Director Reese Satre on Tuesday about Hunt’s hiring and the status of the district’s search for a new girls basketball coach. Satre said the openings become very public based recent media coverage. “The fact the Rick (Dillinger) has resigned is very public from the prespective of (Raccoon Valley Radio’s) reporting and the University of Iowa,” Satre said, “We’ve got a handful of applicants that have applied via Teach Iowa. We are going to let that finish out for the week, and we will meet and take a look at whose interested.”
Satre said they’ll begin narrowing the candidates into ones they want to bring in for an interview after that based on their resume and an in-depth questionnaire about the person’s vision for the Tigers girls basketball program. He adds the district is hoping to have the ADM girls basketball position filled by sometime in September if not sooner. Dillinger resigned as ADM’s varsity softball and girls basketball coach to become an assistant coach on the University of Iowa Women’s Softball team.
